BISHKEK, Kyrgyzstan, November 29. Uzbek companies are planning to build a textile factory in the Nookat district of Kyrgyzstan, in the village of Aral, Trend reports.
The corresponding tripartite agreement was signed between the regional administration and Uzbek companies "Art Soft Holding" and "SASSA GROUP."
According to the project timeline, the construction of the factory will commence in December of this year and is scheduled for completion by the end of 2024. The construction site spans 20 hectares, with the overall project cost estimated at $31 million. Over 1,000 job opportunities are expected to be created.
The textile factory aims to facilitate the production of cotton fabrics and finished products. Additionally, discussions during the meeting revolved around implementing several investment projects in the Jalal-Abad region.
According to the State Statistical Committee of Kyrgyzstan, the textile production in the country totaled 25.146 million square meters of fabric from January through October 2023, which is a 15-percent decrease compared to the same period in 2022 (29.568 million square meters).
