Azerbaijan sees rise in tourist interest from Kyrgyzstan

BISHKEK, Kyrgyzstan, December 9. The number of tourists traveling from Kyrgyzstan to Azerbaijan from January through October 2023 has notably increased, Trend reports.

Data from the State Tourism Agency of Azerbaijan indicates that a total of 4,454 tourists from Kyrgyzstan visited Azerbaijan during this period, marking a 76.3-percent increase compared to the same period in 2022 (2,526 tourists).

In comparison, 3,430 citizens of Kyrgyzstan traveled to Azerbaijan in the same period of 2019, the year before the COVID-19 restrictions.

In October 2023, Azerbaijan was visited by 613 Kyrgyz citizens, which is 67 percent more than in October 2022 (365 tourists). For comparison, 494 tourists from Kyrgyzstan visited Azerbaijan in August 2019.

The visits of Kyrgyzstan’s tourists to Azerbaijan in 2023 by month are as follows: January (141 tourists), February (238 tourists), March (372 tourists), April (423 tourists), May (559 tourists), June (475 tourists), July (495 tourists), August (538 tourists), and September (600 tourists).

Meanwhile, a total of 108,516 tourists from Central Asian countries visited Azerbaijan from January through October 2023, marking an 85 percent increase from the same period in 2022 (58,707 people).
