BISHKEK, Kyrgyzstan, December 11. The number of MasterCard cards in circulation in Bishkek, the capital of Kyrgyzstan, decreased during the third quarter of 2023, Trend reports.
Data from the country’s National Bank indicates that the total number of MasterCard cards in Bishkek was 29,880 as of September 30, 2023, declining by 16 percent compared to the same period in 2022, when there were 35,698 MasterCard cards in circulation.
By the end of September 2023, Bishkek accounted for 56.8 percent of the total MasterCard cards in circulation (52,573 in total). In comparison, during the same period in 2022, the capital held 58.5 percent of the total number of MasterCard cards in circulation (60,932 cards).
Furthermore, Bishkek's proportion of the overall number of cards in circulation across Kyrgyzstan increased, reaching 48.8 percent compared to 44.9 percent reported during the same months in 2022.
The number of MasterCard payment cards in Kyrgyzstan amounted to 52,573 as of September 30, 2023, signifying a 13 percent drop from the same date in 2022 when there were 60,932 cards.
