BISHKEK, Kyrgyzstan, January 15. Kyrgyzstan's GDP, according to the preliminary estimations of the country's State Statistical Committee, surpassed 1.2 trillion soms ($13.4 billion) in 2023, which is a 6.2-percent increase compared to 2022, Trend reports.
The industrial production volume in Kyrgyzstan reached approximately 483 billion soms ($5.4 billion) in 2023, which is a 2.7-percent growth compared to the same period in 2022.
Positive trends were observed in wholesale and retail trade, where the value increased by 17.7 percent, as well as in the construction sector, which experienced a growth of 10.3 percent.
Moreover, there was a 7.3 percent increase in consumer prices and tariffs across Kyrgyzstan as of the end of December 2023, compared to December 2022.
During a press conference evaluating the outcomes of the year at the end of 2023, Daniyar Amangeldiev, the Minister of Economy and Commerce of Kyrgyzstan, said that the country's GDP growth rate was expected to reach 4.5 percent by the end of 2023. This growth was anticipated to be propelled by sectors such as industry and services.
At the same time, the United Nations (UN) forecasts that Kyrgyzstan's real GDP growth will reach 4.8 percent in 2024, and 4.9 percent in 2025.
Analysts from the Eurasian Development Bank (EDB) predict that Kyrgyzstan's GDP will reach 4.5 percent in 2024 under the conditions of high investment activity, increased exports, a return of consumer demand to a balanced level, among other factors.
