BISHKEK, Kyrgyzstan, March 2. Kyrgyzstan imported 5,601 trucks from South Korea in 2023, which is 2.9 times higher than the number imported in 2022 (1,911 trucks), Trend reports.
Data from the State Statistical Committee of Kyrgyzstan shows that the value of the imports amounted to $18.856 million, increasing by 3.3 times compared to 2022 ($5.638 million).
South Korea was the main country from which Kyrgyzstan imported trucks last year. Apart from South Korea, Lithuania also ranks among the top three leaders in truck exports to Kyrgyzstan, providing 4,246 trucks valued at $12.838 million, followed by China with 1,945 trucks valued at $62.351 million.
Overall, Kyrgyzstan imported 13,651 trucks in 2023, which is 98.8 percent higher than in 2022 (6,866 trucks). The value of the imports amounted to $138.283 million, which is a 2.4 times rise compared to the same period in 2022 ($56.681 million).
Kyrgyzstan's foreign trade turnover reached $15.660 billion in 2023, which is a 29.9 percent increase compared to 2022 ($12.057 billion). The country's exports totaled $3.308 billion, rising by 46.8 percent year-on-year ($2.254 billion in 2022). Imports to Kyrgyzstan amounted to $12.352 billion, which is 26 percent higher than $9.803 billion in 2022.
