BISHKEK, Kyrgyzstan, March 12. Kyrgyzstan's consumer prices grew by 1 percent during January to February 2024 compared to December 2023, Trend reports,
According to data from Kyrgyzstan's State Statistical Committee, alcoholic beverages and tobacco goods saw a 1.6 percent increase in price, while food products and non-alcoholic beverages increased by 1 percent. Service tariffs for the population increased by 2.6 percent. However, non-food product prices fell by 0.3 percent during the same period.
The highest price increases during this period were observed in fresh vegetables (up by 7.3 percent), dairy products, cheese, and eggs (up by 3.2 percent), including a significant increase in egg prices (by 5.5 percent) and cheese (by 2.5 percent), fish (up by 2.8 percent), and flour (up by 1.2 percent).
Conversely, prices decreased for cottonseed oil (by 2.9 percent), buckwheat (by 2.6 percent), animal fats (by 2.5 percent), sugar (by 1.9 percent), and mutton (by 0.3 percent).
The rise in consumer prices and tariffs from January through February 2024 (compared to December of the previous year) was observed in all regions of the country, except for the Chuy region (a decrease of 0.5 percent) and Jalal-Abad region (a decrease of 0.2 percent).
Bishkek experienced the biggest price increase (1.5 percent), owing primarily to a 4 percent increase in service tariffs offered to the populace when compared to other regions.
