Tajik caught in Russia with around 7 kg of heroin

( RIA Novosti ) - Police in Kazan, the capital of the Russian Volga republic of Tatarstan, have confiscated more than 6.8 kg of heroin from a Tajik national, a local police source said on Thursday.

"On searching him, police found heroin. Also, drugs were found in a flat he rented. A total of over 6.8 kg of heroin was confiscated," the source told RIA Novosti.

Police are now establishing the origin of the drugs and its potential buyer.

Tajikistan is a major transit country for drugs from the world's largest heroin producer, Afghanistan, to former Soviet republics including Russia and some Western countries.
