A criminal case has been filed on murder of Tajikistan's intelligence general Abdullo Nazarov, CA-NEWS quotes Kyrgyz Attorney General Sherkhon Salimzoda as saying.

"General's headquarters was created in the city of Khorog. The headquarters is headed by Deputy Attorney General - chief military prosecutor Khairullo Saidov," Salimzoda said at press conference on Monday.

According to Attorney General's Office spokesman, the criminal case has been launched under the articles of murder, stealing weapons, ammunition, explosives and explosive devices and use of violence against a government representative.

56-year-old Nazarov was killed on Saturday evening, two kilometers far from the city of Khorog in eastern Tajikistan. He headed the Gorno-Badakhshan Autonomous Region's Office of Tajik National Security Committee.

The general was returning from a business trip when his car was stopped by unknown people. According to the National Security Committee, Nazarov died with stab wounds. According to other unconfirmed reports, the general was killed with an axe.

According to preliminary investigative version, a group of persons smuggling tobacco products was involved in the murder.
