Tajikistan discloses number of ongoing transport projects

DUSHANBE, Tajikistan, July 25. Tajikistan is currently implementing 12 projects in the transport sector, with a total value of $1.055 billion, the head of the Land Transport Department at the Ministry of Transport of Tajikistan, Saifullo Kodirzoda, said, Trend reports.

According to him, these ongoing projects are expected to significantly contribute to the further economic development of the country.

Among the priority projects is the construction of the "Kalai-Khumb-Vanch" highway, along with the realization of the first and second phases of the "Obigarm-Nurabad" projects.

Furthermore, 51 automobile terminals are operational across the country, including 44 passenger terminals and seven freight terminals. Notably, 17 international freight terminals are established at all border crossing points within the territory of Tajikistan.

Kodirzoda also noted that the Ministry of Transport of Tajikistan plans to finish several projects by the end of the current year.

These projects include the construction of the "Guliston-Farkhor-Nizhny Panj-Dusti" highway, the "Dangara-Guliston" highway, and the "Guliston-Kulyab" highway.

According to the Statistical Agency of the country, the volume of cargo transported by road transport in Tajikistan reached 50.403 million tons from January through June 2023, which accounts for 94 percent of the total volume of cargo transported in the country.
