DUSHANBE, Tajikistan, September 20. The Asian Development Bank (ADB) expects that Tajikistan's GDP growth rate will reach 6.5 percent in 2023, Trend reports.

This forecast is an upward revision from the 5.5 percent projected in April of this year. Looking ahead to 2024, the ADB anticipates that the GDP growth rate will further increase to 7 percent, up from the previously projected 6.5 percent.

“Economic expansion accelerated from 7.4 percent year-on-year in the first half of 2022 to 8.3 percent in the first half of 2023, as industry and services rebounded, and on sizable remittances from migrant workers in Russia,” the ADB analytics said.

It was observed that the country’s growth has remained robust, and Tajikistan’s resilience from the effects of the war in Ukraine has exceeded expectations. Tajikistan’s economic activity remained strong in the first half of 2023, primarily driven by domestic demand.

According to the Ministry of Economic Development and Trade of Tajikistan, the GDP growth of Tajikistan in 2022 amounted to 8 percent.
