DUSHANBE, Tajikistan, September 21. Prices for essential commodities in Tajikistan as of September 11 remained mostly unchanged compared to September 4, Trend reports.
These commodities, as per WFP (the World Food Programme), include first-grade wheat flour, sugar, vegetable oil, and cottonseed oil.
The average price for one kilogram of first-grade wheat flour in Tajikistan's retail markets was 5 somoni ($0.45) on September 11, 2023, which is a 28 percent decrease year-on-year.
Sugar prices averaged 12 somoni ($1.09) per kilogram, up by 8 percent year-on-year.
Vegetable oil prices experienced a minor rise of 0.4 percent compared to September 4, amounting to 17.2 somoni ($1.56), with a 29 percent year-on-year decline. Cottonseed oil prices increased by 0.7 percent compared to September 4, reaching 16 somoni ($1.45), with a 30 percent year-on-year decrease.
WFP Tajikistan, in partnership with the Neksigol Mushovir advisory organization, has been monitoring commodity prices in markets across the country. Price data is collected through a network of field enumerators. For each commodity, multiple traders are interviewed, and average prices are recorded.
