Tajikistan’s export of base metals to Belgium drops

DUSHANBE, Tajikistan, September 27. Tajikistan’s exports to Belgium amounted to 17.6 million euros from January through June 2023, consisting only of base metals, Trend reports.

Data from the Belgian Foreign Trade Agency indicates that exports of base metals from Tajikistan to Belgium were 4.3 percent lower than in the same period of 2022 (18.4 million euros).

However, while in the first six months of this year Tajikistan's exports to Belgium solely consisted of base metals, during the same period in 2022, Tajikistan also exported textiles (656,200 euros) and plastics (184,300 euros).

Tajikistan's exports to Belgium from January through June 2023 decreased by 8.5-percent year-on-year. Tajikistan’s imports from Belgium amounted to 9.6 million euros during the same period, rising by 29.7 percent year-on-year.

In the structure of Tajikistan's imports, chemicals accounted for 55.6 percent, machinery and equipment for 36.6 percent, and transport equipment for 2 percent.

Overall, trade turnover between Tajikistan and Belgium reached 27.176 million euros from January through June 2023, up by 16 percent compared to the same period in 2022 (23.378 million euros).
