DUSHANBE, Tajikistan, September 29. Qatar is ready to explore and finance several priority projects in Tajikistan, including the construction of the Rogun Hydroelectric Power Plant, Trend reports.
The statement was made during the fourth meeting of the joint Tajik-Qatari intergovernmental commission on economic, trade, and scientific-technical cooperation, held in Doha.
The Ministry of Economic Development and Trade of Tajikistan also reported that the Qatari side is interested in international passenger and cargo airport projects in the Dangara region (in Tajikistan's Khatlon region), the modernization of the Tajik Aluminum Company (TALCO), the construction of high-rise buildings in Dushanbe, tourism infrastructure, and continuing the construction of the "Diyori Dushanbe" residential complex.
Furthermore, Qatar will provide support to enhance the competitiveness of Tajikistan's airline, "Somon Air," and to open direct passenger flights between Dushanbe and Doha.
It was noted that Qatar is interested in establishing enterprises for the production of textiles, decorative stones, and food products, as well as launching a modern logistics center in Tajikistan. Qatar's authorities also intend to employ over 4,000 citizens of Tajikistan.
