DUSHANBE, Tajikistan, December 7. The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) is ready to continue effective collaboration in financing the green economy and the development of Tajikistan's financial sector, Trend reports.
During a ceremony honoring the official opening of the EBRD's technical assistance program in Tajikistan, Holger Wiefel, the EBRD's Head of Tajikistan, stated as much. The occasion was attended by Tajikistan's National Bank Chairman, Hokim Kholiqzoda, as well as other officials.
Wiefel was pleased with the amount of bilateral cooperation between the Tajik National Bank and the EBRD. He emphasized that the EBRD has become one of Tajikistan's major institutional investors, working closely with the country's banks to allow the exchange of worldwide best practices in dealing with climate change concerns.
During the discussion, Hokim Kholiqzoda stressed the National Bank's desire to learn from the experiences of about 130 central banks and financial institutions throughout the world.
As of October 31, the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development's current project portfolio in Tajikistan was 500 million euros. The loan portfolio is intended for the completion of 69 projects.
