DUSHANBE, Tajikistan, December 8. A total of 3,864 tourists from Tajikistan visited Azerbaijan from January through October 2023, which is a 79-percent increase compared to the same period in 2022 (2,153), Trend reports.
According to data from the State Tourism Agency of Azerbaijan, this figure represents a 38.4 percent increase compared to the pre-COVID-19 restrictions year of 2019 when 2,792 citizens of Tajikistan visited Azerbaijan from January through October.
In October 2023, Azerbaijan welcomed 428 Tajik citizens, which is a 35-percent increase compared to October 2022 (315 tourists). By comparison, 355 tourists from Tajikistan visited Azerbaijan in October 2019.
The visits of Tajikistani tourists to Azerbaijan in 2023 by month are as follows: January (165 tourists), February (177 tourists), March (317 tourists), April (294 tourists), May (299 tourists), June (452 tourists), July (691 tourists), August (507 tourists), and September (534 tourists).
Meanwhile, a total of 108,516 tourists from Central Asian countries visited Azerbaijan from January through October 2023, marking an 85 percent increase from the same period in 2022 (58,707 people).
