Number of insurance contracts signed in Tajikistan increases

DUSHANBE, Tajikistan, February 24. The total number of contracts signed by insurance companies in Tajikistan reached 2.3 million in 2023, which is a 9.8 percent increase compared to 2022, Trend reports.

According to the National Bank of Tajikistan, the assets of the country's insurance companies rose to 815.7 million somoni ($74.486 million) over the past year, which is an increase of 18.1 percent compared to 2022. The share of insurance system assets in the country's overall financial system for this period was 2 percent.

As of December 31, 2023, the return on assets (ROA) of insurance companies was 11.9 percent, and the return on equity (ROE) was 20.9 percent, which is an increase of 0.5 and 0.8 percentage points, respectively, compared to the same date last year.

In 2023, 16 insurance companies in the country, including one state-owned and 15 private insurers, provided insurance services to the population through 66 branches.
