President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhammadov signed a decree dismissing Dzhumageldi Abalakov as deputy governor (mayor) of Ashgabat, the Turkmen government said on Tuesday. The document does not indicate the reason for dismissal.

President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhammadov signed a decree dismissing Dzhumageldi Abalakov as deputy governor (mayor) of Ashgabat, the Turkmen government said on Tuesday. The document does not indicate the reason for dismissal.

By another decree Dovlet Geldimammedov was dismissed from his post as governor (mayor) of the Azatlyk district of the Turkmen capital 'for shortcomings in his activity'.

A separate government report says that President Berdimuhammadov had taken an interest in the situation regarding new buildings in the capital, the work being carried out which was making further changes to the architectural appearance of the city and improving the functioning of essential utilities.

The head of state demanded that the city administration keeps strictly to the issues relating to improving the architectural appearance of the capital, ensuring observance of sanitary standards and that law and order in the city is kept under strict control. Also it was also instructed that a high quality of construction is to be ensured and to complete the building of facilities in the capital on time.

A number of major construction projects are being implemented in the Turkmen capital. Companies from Europe and Turkey are erecting government institutions, a business city and an Olympic village as well as other facilities.
