BAKU, Azerbaijan, February 7. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan hosted a regular meeting of the Turkmen National Commission for UNESCO on February 6, 2023, which was attended by Deputy Chairmen of the Cabinet of Ministers of Turkmenistan, heads and representatives of relevant ministries and departments of the country, Trend reports with reference to the Turkmen media.

According to the information, at the opening of the meeting, Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan Rashid Meredov noted that during the current meeting, the results of Turkmenistan's cooperation with UNESCO will be considered, tasks within the framework of the main areas of interaction and proposals for improving the work will be identified.

During the meeting, the parties stressed that one of the important areas of partnership with UNESCO is education. As part of this, they highlighted the importance of expanding cooperation with the organization in the field of education and science, and also discussed issues related to the creation of UNESCO chairs in a number of universities in Turkmenistan and the introduction of a number of secondary schools in the country into UNESCO Associated Schools Network.

In connection with the celebration of the 30th anniversary of Turkmenistan's cooperation with UNESCO this year, it was proposed to hold an international conference in December 2023 in the city of Ashgabat (Turkmenistan) jointly with the UNESCO Tehran Cluster Office in Iran.

UNESCO provides technical support to the Government of Turkmenistan in the development of an information system for education management, capacity development in the field of technical and vocational education and training in order to develop skills in forecasting the labor market.
