BAKU, Azerbaijan, February 27. The trade turnover between Turkmenistan and Iran for the first 10 months of the current Iranian calendar year (March 21 - January 20) amounted to $389.65 million, Trend reports with reference to the Turkmen media.

According to the information, during the reporting period, exports and imports of both countries amounted to 1.1 million tons of products.

The volume of Iran's exports to Turkmenistan in the first 10 months of the current Iranian calendar year increased by 32.6 percent compared to the same period last year.

The total trade turnover of Iran with the Caspian states in the specified period reached 5.54 million tons in the amount of $3.03 billion, which is 9.19 percent more compared to the same period last year.

Russia was Iran's main trading partner among the Caspian states. During the corresponding period, the total volume of trade turnover between the countries amounted to $1.79 billion (3.11 million tons), which is 1.27 percent lower than the same indicator last year.

The prospect of forming a free trade zone in the Caspian region opens up the possibility for Iran to obtain a market with a capacity of $600-700 billion.

Meanwhile, in the second half of last year, a border market opened on the border of Turkmenistan and Iran, after 34 months of downtime due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
