Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan marginally decrease trade volume

ASHGABAT, Turkmenistan, September 22. The trade volume between Uzbekistan and Turkmenistan for the period spanning January through August 2023 totaled $517 million, marking a 22.3 percent decline compared to the corresponding period in the previous year, which stood at $665.5 million, Trend reports.

According to the Uzbek State Statistics Committee, Turkmenistan entered the top 10 largest foreign trade partners of Uzbekistan in the first eight months of this year.

Turkmenistan exported goods valued at over $398.6 million to Uzbekistan in the current reporting interval, reflecting a 23 percent decrease when contrasted with the identical period in 2022, when it amounted to $518.3 million.

Simultaneously, Turkmenistan experienced a 19.6 percent reduction in its imports from Uzbekistan, reaching a total of $118.4 million, as opposed to the $147.3 million recorded during the January through August 2022 period.

Uzbekistan's overall foreign trade volume in the first eight months of 2023 as a whole exceeded $40.04 billion, an increase of 23.2 percent, or $7.5 billion, compared to the same period last year.

Meanwhile, the trade volume between Uzbekistan and Turkmenistan in 2022 totaled $926.3 million, reflecting a 2.7 percent increase compared to 2021.
