Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan continue negotiations on border delimitation and demarcation

The working groups of the government delegations on delimitation and demarcation of the Uzbek -Kyrgyz state border continued considering the draft on the description of the state border line between the two countries at some sections and relevant cartographic materials in the Uzbek city of Namangan (Fergana Valley) on January 25-28, the Uzbek foreign ministry said on Tuesday.

The working groups of the government delegations on delimitation and demarcation of the Uzbek -Kyrgyz state border continued considering the draft on the description of the state border line between the two countries at some sections and relevant cartographic materials in the Uzbek city of Namangan (Fergana Valley) on January 25-28, the Uzbek foreign ministry said on Tuesday.

"The meeting took place in a constructive atmosphere," the ministry said.

The previous meeting of the sides was held in Tashkent on January 15-20.

The results of joint working groups will be presented to the Uzbek and Kyrgyz governments.

The total length of the Uzbek- Kyrgyz border is 1378.44 kilometers. Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan agreed and approved 1,007 kilometers of border. Some 58 sections have not been agreed to yet.
