The newly appointed Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of India to Uzbekistan Vinod Kumar handed the copy of his credentials to Uzbekistan's Foreign Minister Abdulaziz Kamilov, Uzbek Foreign Ministry said.
Vinod Kumar replaced Vikram Kumar Doraivami who has been serving as head of Indian diplomatic mission in Tashkent from November 2014 to early April 2015.
During the meeting, the sides discussed the current state and prospects for development of Uzbek-Indian cooperation, preparations for the upcoming joint events, expansion of cooperation within international organizations, according to the Foreign Ministry.
They also exchanged views on the regional issues.
India was one of the first countries to recognize Uzbekistan's independence. The two countries have signed over 130 legal documents that in fact, cover all the areas of the bilateral cooperation.
Currently, India is one of the largest partners of Uzbekistan in the sphere of information technologies, light and textile industry, pharmaceutics, production of spare parts for vehicles.
