BAKU, Azerbaijan, June 13. Uzbekistan is discussing with the Russian Rosatom Corporation the optimization of the cost of building a nuclear power plant, Trend reports citing "Gazeta.uz".

This was stated by the Deputy Minister of Energy of Uzbekistan Sherzod Khodjaev.

According to the deputy head of the Ministry of Energy, now the Uzbek side is discussing how much it is possible to reduce the cost of building a nuclear power plant in order to ultimately reduce the cost of a unit of production.

Sherzod Khodjaev noted that from the very beginning, Rosatom Corporation was chosen as the prospective strategic partner of Uzbekistan for this project, with which some studies and surveys were conducted.

According to him, Uzbekistan continues to work with Rosatom on the issue of optimizing the cost of the project.

The Deputy Minister of Energy noted that there are many companies willing to build a nuclear power plant, but when choosing a partner, it is necessary to take into account not only the factor of construction of the plant but also its operation for 50-60 years, as well as decommissioning.
