BAKU, Azerbaijan, March 29. Uzbekistan has imported 786 electric vehicles worth $26.8 million from January through February 2023, Trend reports via Uzbekistan’s State Statistics Committee.

According to statistics, Uzbekistan’s import of e-vehicles has increased by almost 3.5 times, compared to the figure for the first two months of 2022 (228 cars).

China was the leading electric vehicle-exporting country for Uzbekistan from January through February 2023 – 705 cars.

In 2022, Uzbekistan imported 2,180 electric vehicles worth $69.8 million – an increase of 1,371 e-vehicles, or 2.7 times, compared to 2021. During this period, the majority of the electric vehicles Uzbekistan imported from China – 1,941.

Furthermore, taking into account, the growing demand for electric vehicles among the Uzbek population, the country’s government eyes to install 2500 charging stations for electric vehicles by 2025, by fulfilling the Presidential “On measures to expand the infrastructure for the operation of electric vehicles" resolution.

According to the resolution, from January 1, 2024, all newly built shopping and business centers, places of entertainment and recreation, gas stations, hotels, and infrastructure facilities along international, as well as national highways must have charging stations.
