BAKU, Azerbaijan, May 17. Suez SA, a French-based company, operating in the water and waste management sectors, will implement a project on the development of the water supply system in Uzbekistan's Surkhandarya region, Trend reports via the Ministry of Investments and Foreign Trade of Uzbekistan.
The relevant agreement was signed between the Ministry of Investment, Industry and Trade, Uzbekistan's Uzsuvtaminot JSC, a company responsible for water supply and sewerage and rational use of drinking water, and the French Suez. The total cost of the project amounted to $500 million.
Earlier this year, the company visited Uzbekistan within the MEDEF delegation to discuss the water supply and management project in the Tashkent city.
According to the latest data from Uzbek State Statistics Committee, Uzbekistan and France increased the bilateral trade turnover by more than 2.2 times from January through March 2023, compared to the same period of 2022, from $90.8 million up to $206.8 million.
The exports from Uzbekistan to France amounted to $97.1 million, while imports – were $109.6 million.
In 2022, the trade turnover between Uzbekistan and France made up $339.5 million - an increase of 20.9 percent, compared to 2021 ($280.8 million).
