BAKU, Azerbaijan, June 1. Over the past five years, the number of enterprises with Iranian capital in Uzbekistan has tripled, reaching a total of 420, Trend reports.
The number was revealed at the meeting between Laziz Kudratov, Minister of Investments, Industry, and Trade of Uzbekistan, and Said Mahdi Niyazi, Acting Minister of Industry, Mines, and Trade of Iran within the framework of the 15th session of the Intergovernmental Commission on Trade, Economic, and Scientific-Technical Cooperation between the two countries.
Further steps to advance investment cooperation and industrial collaboration were discussed. Both sides confirmed their mutual willingness to attract major companies from both countries for the implementation of new joint projects in sectors of mutual interest.
As part of the agenda, a roundtable discussion was held to activate trade, economic, and investment relations, support Iranian investors operating in Uzbekistan, and expand direct interaction between business communities of both countries.
Meanwhile, the sides also agreed to increase the bilateral trade to up to $1 billion per year.
