BAKU, Azerbaijan, June 10. Italy is eager to implement a number of major industrial projects in Uzbekistan, Trend reports.
The issue was discussed at the meeting between Italian investors and President Shavkat Mirziyoyev during his trip to Milan.
For instance, it was decided that the sides will work on the expansion of interregional cooperation programs with the Lombardy region, implement projects to modernize the gas distribution system in Uzbekistan and electric distribution networks in Tashkent.
At the same time, the parties discussed the technological re-equipment of the Tashkent thermal power plant, construction of a number of plants, including waste incineration with electricity generation in the Tashkent region, purification of potassium chlorine, production of potassium hydroxide melamine, the production of building materials, agricultural machinery, the expansion of saffron plantations, the expansion of production capacities of Uzmetkombinat JSC, the joint creation of the Center for Italian Technologies and Innovations together with the Turin Polytechnic University.
In addition, agreements have been reached on training personnel in the field of industry.
The interest of Italian investors in Uzbekistan was confirmed by the joint business forum held prior to President Mirziyoyev’s visit to the country, which involved around 300 representatives from the business communities of both countries.
As a result, a number of new investment and trade agreements were concluded, amounting to over 9 billion euros. These are large-scale cooperation projects in the fields of energy, petrochemicals, oil and gas industry, metallurgy, chemical industry, textile industry, and agriculture.
