BAKU, Azerbaijan, June 22. The enterprises of the Republic of Uzbekistan have produced industrial goods worth 231.2 trillion Uzbek som ($20.2 billion) in the period from January through May 2023, Trend reports.
According to the country's Statistics Committee, this figure is 17.5 percent more than the 196.9 trillion Uzbek som ($17.2 billion) in the same period of the previous year. Meanwhile, the physical volume index of industrial production reached 105.7 percent compared to the same period in 2022.
The largest share in the overall volume of industrial production across the country from January through May 2023 was contributed by Tashkent city (18.3 percent), Navoi region (16.9 percent), Tashkent region (16.6 percent), Andijan region (9.2 percent), and Samarkand region (5.1 percent).
Currently, there are 70,600 industrial enterprises operating in the country. Among them, 11,400 (16.2 percent of the total number of active enterprises) are located in Tashkent, 8,000 (11.3 percent) in the Fergana region, 7,200 (10.2 percent) in the Tashkent region, 6,300 (8.9 percent) in the Samarkand region, and 6,000 (8.5 percent) in the Andijan region.
Compared to the same period in 2022, the average indicators of industrial production in the country have increased, thanks to the enterprises in the Jizzakh region (106.7 percent), Syrdarya region (106.5 percent), and Kashkadarya region (106.5 percent).
