TASHKENT, Uzbekistan, August 26. Uzbekistan and South Korea discussed the implementation of a grant project worth $6.6 million to improve the management of the landfill in the Uzbek Jizzakh city, Trend reports.

According to the official source, these issues were discussed between Deputy Minister of Ecology, Environmental Protection, and Climate Change of Uzbekistan Jusipbek Kazbekov and President of Korea Environmental Industry and Technology Institute (KEITI) Heung Jin Choi, who arrived in Uzbekistan at the head of the delegation.

During the meeting, the sides discussed the achieved level of bilateral cooperation and the implementation of joint grants, improving the solid waste management system in the Jizzakh region, strengthening the capacity of Uzbek specialists, and investment projects for the development of joint scientific programs and projects.

They also reviewed the feasibility study of the investment project "Integrated Waste Management in the Jizzakh Region,, which is supposed to be funded by the Fund for Economic Development and Cooperation (EDCF) of the Government of South Korea.

Furthermore, the opinions and comments of experts from the Ministry of Ecology were also listened to, and an agreement was reached on the joint development of a draft document.
