TASHKENT, Uzbekistan, November 27. Uzbekistan and Saudi Arabia have signed an array of comprehensive agreements totaling $23 billion, Trend reports.
The announcement came after a meeting between Uzbekistan's President Shavkat Mirziyoyev and a Saudi Arabian delegation led by Saudi Minister of Investment Khalid Al-Falih.
During the Saudi delegation's current tour, agreements worth $12 billion were made on the implementation of mutually beneficial projects in the domains of chemistry, energy, agriculture, pharmaceuticals, information technology, and infrastructure development.
There was also an agreement to promote new projects and programs worth $11 billion in the fields of transportation infrastructure and utilities, geology, irrigation, household waste recycling, higher education, and labor migration.
Furthermore, the parties noted the productive relationship with the Saudi ACWA Power energy firm, which is presently the largest investor and key partner in the development of green energy in Uzbekistan, with projects totaling 7.5 billion dollars.
Earlier this month, ACWA Power won the first stage of the tender for the construction of a 200 MW wind farm and a 100 MW electricity storage system in the Karaozak and Beruniy districts of Uzbekistan’s.
This project is being implemented with the support of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) as part of the "Program for the development and provision of consulting services for the construction of a wind farm with a total capacity of 200 MW".
ACWA POWER-Saudi offered $4.09 cents for 1 kWh of electricity generated by the wind farm and electricity storage system, and Masdar offered $4.99 cents for 1 kWh of electricity.
