TASHKENT, Uzbekistan, March 1. During the visit of President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev to Khorezm region on February 29, a ceremony was held to launch the construction of a photovoltaic station with a capacity of 100 megawatts by the French Voltalia company, Trend reports.

Now, in the Tuprakkala district of the region, the construction of another complex is beginning - a solar power plant with a capacity of 100 megawatts by Voltalia.

This will be the first such large project in Khorezm. It will generate 254 million kWh of green energy per year, which will cover 11 percent of the annual electricity consumption in the region. It is planned to connect the plant to the grid by the end of the year.

The implementation of the project will increase electricity generation in Khorezm by 30 percent to 424 MW. In particular, it will fully meet the annual demand of 135 million kWh in the Tuprakkala district.

In addition, the plant will make it possible to transfer 40 percent of excess energy to neighboring districts, ensuring stable power supply to 85,000 households.

Most importantly, the plant will save 76 million cubic meters of natural gas and prevent the emission of 106,000 tons of harmful substances into the atmosphere.

Specially, within the framework of this project, the experience of agrovoltaics will be used, which combines energy production and agriculture on one site, allowing crops to be grown under solar panels.

Meanwhile, the total direct investment in this project will be $68 million. Sarimay Solar LLC was formed as a commercial partner in Uzbekistan to carry out the project.

During the construction period, the French company will also give a bank guarantee of $20 million.
