Iran's Parliament Labels US CIA as Terrorists

( Fars News Agency) Iran's parliament has passed a resolution calling on the government to designate the United States Army and Central Intelligence Agency as "terrorist organizations."

The move is in response to US lawmakers' approval this week of resolutions urging the Bush administration to label Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps (IRGC) a "terrorist group."

The Iranian resolution was approved Saturday by 215 lawmakers in Iran's 290-seat parliament.

The resolution says the US Army and CIA should be considered terrorists because they provide support to Israel in its operations against Palestinian and Lebanese militants.

The document also cites US killings in Iraq and Afghanistan and the torture of suspects at US detention centers in Iraq and Guantanamo Bay, Cuba.

The Bush administration said in August it is considering designating all or part of the IRGC as a terrorist organization. US officials and lawmakers accuse the IRGC of arming Shiite militants in Iraq and supplying sophisticated roadside bombs used to kill American soldiers there, but they have never presented a corroborative body of evidence to prove their allegations. Iran denies the charges vehemently.
