Iranian Foreign Minister Manouchehr Mottaki is to pay a two-day visit to Athens, Greece beginning on Monday, IRNA reported.

Iranian Foreign Minister Manouchehr Mottaki is to pay a two-day visit to Athens, Greece beginning on Monday, IRNA reported.
   
During the two-day visit, Mottaki is to confer with his Greek counterpart Dimitris Droutsas and Greek President Karolos Papoulias on issues of mutual interests along with regional and international developments.

Relations between the Islamic Republic of Iran and Greece are very deep rooted as the two sides enjoy cultural and historical commonalities.

Over 35 memoranda of understanding (MoUs) on expansion of bilateral cooperation have been signed by the two countries.

As a member to EU, Greece has always adopted a positive approach to Iran.

During Greece's presidency of EU, ties and cooperation between the EU and Iran increased dramatically.
