Iran Materials 3 September 2011 16:51 (UTC +04:00)

The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) called on Iranian authorities to allow inspectors to visit nuclear facilities of the Islamic republic, RIA Novosti reported referring to the NHK TV channel.

According to the IAEA as of late August, uranium enriched to 20 percent was 70.8 kg in Iran, or 14.1 kg more compared to the last May report. Thus, Iran continues increasing the enriched uranium production despite the UN Security Council resolutions, the IAEA's report said.

The IAEA said that it intends to conduct inspections in all Iranian nuclear facilities, including a new facility in the city of Qom.

There is no Iran's reaction to the IAEA's demand.

The West and in particular the U.S accuse Iran of making nuclear weapons, Iran denies the allegation and insists that its enrichment program only seeks peaceful purposes including power generation and meeting the country's medical needs.

The UN Security Council has adopted three sets of sanctions against Iran following the country's refusal to freeze peaceful enrichment work.
