Some 2,500 oil and gas wells will be drilled and commissioned within Iran's fifth five-year economic development plan (2010-2015), a source in the National Iranian Oil Company said.
Most of the operations will be carried out by the National Drilling Company, Shana news agency quotes Abdolmohammad Delparish as saying.
He also said that all the joint oil and gas fields should be developed by late of a five-year plan.
"Development of joint oil and gas fields is the first priority of the country's oil industry," National Iranian Oil Company's managing director Ahmad Qalebani said.
Qalebani said in November that 20 contracts will be signed by late current Iranian calendar year (March 20, 2012) to develop joint oilfields.
