Velayat-90 maneuvers showed Iran’s readiness: Iranian navy commander

Commander of the Islamic Republic of Iran’s Navy Rear Admiral Habibollah Sayyari said that the success of Velayat-90 military maneuvers in the Persian Gulf and Indian Ocean shows the capabilities and preparedness of Iran’s armed forces and their loyalty.

Commander of the Islamic Republic of Iran's Navy Rear Admiral Habibollah Sayyari said that the success of Velayat-90 military maneuvers in the Persian Gulf and Indian Ocean shows the capabilities and preparedness of Iran's armed forces and their loyalty, IRNA reported.

Speaking on Islamic Republic of Iran's national TV on Thursday, Admiral Sayyari said that Velayat-90 military drills is in continuation of holding annual maneuvers with special features such as using new tactics, evaluating the communication capabilities and conducting electronic warfare, as well as conducting the operation in a vast area.

He also referred to other peculiarities of Velayat-90 military drills as assessing the relevant trainings in compliance with threats, vast deployment of forces alongside coasts, and extensive use of surface-to-surface missiles.

Referring to the remarks by the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei who termed the Islamic Republic of Iran's Navy a strategic force, Admiral Sayyari said that Iranian Navy should be present in international waters, otherwise it will not achieve its main objectives.

Pointing out that the fact the message of Iran's military maneuvers was sending message of peace and friendship to the countries of the region, the navy commander

"We used our numerous capabilities in the maneuver such as light-class and heavy-class submarines and rocket-launcher military warships in Velayat-90 military drills," Admiral Sayyari added.
