The Foreign Ministry is pursuing the cases of six Iranian nationals who are imprisoned in Saudi Arabia for alleged involvement in drug trafficking, Iranian Foreign Minister Ali Akbar Salehi said on Sunday.
Speaking to the Persian service of IRNA, Salehi stated that "the Foreign Ministry succeeded in obtaining the release of 700 Iranians from prisons in a number of South Asian countries" in the previous Iranian calendar year that ended on March 19.
Hossein Amir-Abdollahian, the deputy foreign minister for Arab and African affairs, announced that the death sentences of the six nationals in question had been commuted to 15 years in prison.
