Azerbaijan, Baku, July 2/Trend M. Moezzi

Turkey and Iran have agreed to create a joint industrial park that straddles both countries' borders.

In late August, task forces from the two neighbours will meet to discuss the road they must build to the industrial parks as well as legal and operational matters, Mehr news agency reports.

Ease of production, reduced transportation costs, the absence of customs tariffs, creating a joint brand for products and the region's prosperity and development are among the reasons why the project has been taken on by Turkey and Iran said deputy Industry, Mines and Trade Minister Fakhrollah Molaei.

The industrial parks in each country will be the same size with Turkey's located in Gurbulak and Iran's situated in East Azerbaijan Province's town of Sari-Sou.

Mr. Moalei said the industrial parks will strengthen Iran-Turkey relations and create the infrastructure investors would need s they participated in the project.
