Since the Iranian government will not increase energy carriers' prices in the second phase of its targeted subsidy reform plan, Iranians will not get increased cash subsidies.

Launched in late 2010, the Subsidy Reform Plan pays every Iranian receives 455,000 rials, about $37, monthly as compensation for the government's program to end subsidies for some commodities and energy carriers. The programme's second phase was recently approved by Iran's Majlis (parliament) and was to usher in higher prices for energy carriers like gas, electricity, petrol, water.

But the government has decided not to move ahead with higher prices for energy carriers at this time. Since there will be no price increases, there won't be any additional payment made to citizens said Minister of Economic and Financial Affairs, Seyed Shamseddin Hosseini.
In February, authorities deposited $22 in Iranians' accounts in anticipation of the Subsidy Reform Plan's second phase. That was done without the parliament's (Majlis) approval. The government and Majlis agreed that money would help make up for higher bread prices.

The government had originally planned to increase Iranians' cash payments to $60 in the second phase of its reform programme. That has been put on hold.
