Head of Majlis National Security and Foreign Policy Commission Alaedin Boroujerdi said Tehran will always try its best to expand ties with the Muslim Iraqi nation, IRNA reported
Making the remark in a meeting with his Iraqi counterpart Homam Hamoud, he said Iraq is an important and strategic neighbor. He said Iran condemns any efforts to undermine security and stability of Iraq.
Referring to the long-standing cultural and religious ties between the two nations, the Iranian MP stressed the need for developing and expanding mutual relations.
He also hailed the will of the Iraqi nation to expell foreign occupying forces and expressed happiness over the reconstruction and rehabilitation efforts in political and social arenas in Iraq despite all problems the country faces. Boroujerdi further outlined the plots of enemies to sow discord among Muslims and called for fostering unity in the Muslim World.
Hamoudi voiced the readiness of the Iraqi parliament to promote ties with Iran in all areas.
He appreciated Iran's efforts to help reconstruction process in Iraq and hoped the exchange of visits between members of the two parliaments would increase in future.
