US officials will once again fail in their efforts to discourage Iranian people from turning out in the upcoming election, the leader of Iran's Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei said on Monday.

Ayatollah Khamenei made the remarks at a gathering at Imam Hossein University in Tehran, the IRNA News Agency reported.

Iranians will deal another blow to American authorities by making a strong showing on election day, he explained.

He further said that the enemies of Iran have in the past few years made a lot of hue and cry over elections in Iran, all of which have failed.

Ayatollah Khamenei's comments come in the wake of recent remarks by top US officials including US Secretary of State John Kerry who have questioned the democratic process of elections in Iran.

Iran will hold the 11th presidential election on June 14, 2013.

The voters will select the successor of the current President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, who is not able to participate in the elections for the third term according to the country's constitutional laws.

The president of Iran is elected for a four-year term in a national election and the Guardian Council vets the candidates for qualifications.
