The Society of Seminary Teachers of Qom has not declared its official support from Ali-Akbar Velayati in the upcoming presidential election in Iran, the Mehr News Agency quoted the Guardian Council member Abbas Ka'abi as saying.

Over two third of members of the council will support two or three candidates, he added.

On Sunday, the Fars News Agency reported that the Society of Seminary Teachers of Qom declared that they support Ali-Akbar Velayati in the upcoming presidential election in Iran.

Head of the society Mohammad Yazdi said that a majority of the society's members will support Velayati.

The Society of Seminary Teachers of Qom is among the entities close to the principlist front in Iran.

The Society of Seminary Teachers of Qom was founded 1961 by the leading Shi'a clerics of Qom. Its head is appointed by the Supreme Leader of Iran.

Former foreign minister Velayati has promised to fix country's foreign relations.

Velayati said that if he is elected the president, he will improve Iran's relations with neighboring countries and use the country's full potential to prevent further sanctions.

The senior advisor to the Leader of the Islamic Revolution also called for a huge turnout in the upcoming elections.

Expediency Council secretary Mohsen Rezaei, Supreme National Security Council Secretary Saeed Jalili, former Foreign Minister Ali-Akbar Velayati, Tehran Mayor Mohammad-Baqer Qalibaf, President of the Strategic Research Center of the Expediency Council Hassan Rohani, former First Vice President Mohammad-Reza Aref, and former Telecommunications Minister Mohammad Gharazi are competing in the presidential election which will be held on June 14, 2013.

The voters will select the successor of the current President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, who is not able to participate in the elections for the third term according to the country's constitutional laws.

The president of Iran is elected for a four-year term.
