Iran’s car output increases by 3%

Some 368,160 cars were produced in Iran in the first four months of the current Iranian fiscal year (March 20 – July 20).

The figure indicates a slight rise by 3.3 percent compared to the same months of the preceding year, Iran’s ISNA news agency reported.

Sedan cars output stood at 339,838 units in the mentioned period, compared to 329,053 cars during March 20 – July 20, 2015.

Iran also produced 24,908 pickup trucks(8.7 percent more year on year), 133 minibuses(18.4 percent decrease), 149 buses(38.4 percent decrease) and 3132 trucks(23 percent decrease) in the four-month period.

The Iranian car manufacturers produced 102,502 cars during the fourth calendar year (May 20, July 20), 10.6 percent more year on year.

The country’s sedan output reached 95,314 in the period, indicating a rise by 12.6 percent. Also 6,233 pickup trucks, 36 minibuses, 59 buses and 860 trucks were produced in Iran in the one-month period.

Iran’s car output reached 982,337 units in 2015, according to the International Organization of Motor Vehicle Manufacturers (OICA). The figure indicated a 9.9-percent fall year-on-year.

Iran was the world’s 20th biggest car manufacturer by end of 2015, meanwhile the country stood at the 18th place in the first half of 2015.

The Islamic Republic manufactured 884,866 sedans and 97,471 commercial vehicles in 2015.

The 2014 production statistics by the OICA indicates that Iran’s car production increased by 46.7 percent and stood at 1.1 million cars.
