Iran, British ADS Group sign MoU on oil well security

The National Iranian Drilling Company (NIDC) signed a memorandum of understanding with British ADG group on drilling well control certification, Mehr reported Apr.13.

According to the report, ADS Group would launch courses for instruction of Iranian oil and gas specialists on outburst control methods during drillings of oil and gas wells.

ADS is the trade organization for companies in the UK Aerospace, Defence, Security and Space Sectors.

ADS Group was not available for comments regarding the details of the deal.

NIDC drilled over 293 kilometers of oil and gas wells using its drilling fleet during the last Iranian fiscal year (ended March 21), Hamid Reza Khoshayand, deputy managing director of NIDC, said earlier.

The company has carried out drilling of 193 offshore and onshore oil and gas wells during the period, Khoshayand said, NIDC’s official website reported.

The wells included 65 delineation wells, three exploratory and 125 repairing and developmental ones, he added.

The NIDC owns 74 light, heavy and ultra-heavy onshore and offshore drilling rigs of them 6 are under overhaul, Khoshayand said.

From the active rigs 37 are employed for drilling delineation wells, two for exploratory wells and 29 for repairing ones, he added.
