Iran’s Costumes Administration has published data, covering the country’s exports during the first seven months of the current fiscal year (started March 20, 2017).

According to the report, Iran has exported $233 million worth of cement during the 7-month period.

The Islamic Republic exported 7.1 million tons of cement to over 34 countries across the world (including the US), within the same time span.

Iran exported $5000 worth of White Portland cement to the United States during the period.

Iraq was the main destination of Iran’s cement exports. The Islamic Republic exported $64 million worth of cement to Iraq in the 7-month period, followed by Afghanistan ($46 million) and Kuwait ($23 million).

White Portland was the top exported sort of cement in the period in terms of value ($105 million).

Clinker ($95 million) and Pozzolanic($16 million) were other top exported cement types in the 7-month period (March 20-Oct. 22).

Due to global slump in oil prices and regional issues, Iran’s cement export to neighboring countries has witnessed a considerable fall in recent years.

While the country ranked first in the Middle East and fourth in the world in terms of cement production in 2014 with 75 million tons of output, its global ranking fell to sixth in 2016. Iran also lost its 2014 position as the second biggest cement exporter in the world. The Islamic Republic was the third cement exporter in the world in 2016 and is predicted to stand at eighth place among top cement exporters in 2018.

Iran produced 54.1 million tons of cement last fiscal year (ended March 2017), 6.6 percent less year-on-year.

The Iranian administration plans to increase the country’s cement output capacity to 120 million tons per year by 2025.
