Iran invites both Iranian and foreign investors to invest in its electricity sector, Reza Ardakanian, Iranian Energy Minister, told Tasnim News Agency, Trend reports.

According to Ardakanian, Iran has vast plains – a very good source for energy production.

Ardakanian added that Iran is even ready to provide the electricity transmission network to investors for transporting the produced electricity to neighboring countries.

"Iran is engaged in energy exchange with all neighboring countries," he said.

According to the Iranian minister, neighboring countries that import electricity from Iran do not have more suitable alternatives.

Regarding the export of electricity to Iraq, Ardakanian said that Iran is trying to play a key role in the repair of Iraq's electrical industry within the 3-year program recently negotiated between the Iraqi and Iranian governments.

Ardakanian also touched upon electricity relations with Turkey, stating that there are great opportunities for electricity and gas exchange between Turkey and Iran. "This issue, of course, requires companies operating in this field to perform their obligations accordingly."
