Exports from Iran's Razavi Khorasan Province increase

Export of goods through the customs and border markets of Iran’s northeastern Razavi Khorasan Province has increased by 40 percent in terms of weight and 14 percent in terms of value last year (started March 21, 2018), compared to the figures from the preceding year (started March 21, 2017), Omid Jahankhah, Customs Inspector for Razavi Khorasan Province, told IRNA, Trend reports.

According to Jahankhah, 2.95 million tons of products worth $2.25 billion were exported through Razavi Khorasan customs and border markets last year (started March 21, 2018).

He noted that the same figures for the preceding year (started March 21, 2017) were 2.11 million tons of products worth $1.98 billion.

“Last year, $11.7 million of the total export value of the province was made through informal trade, and $ 52.1 million through the Bajgiran and Dogharoon border markets, he said.

Regarding the main products exported through Razavi Khorasan customs and border markets, Jahankhah said that saffron and apple were the main products exported to Afghanistan, Turkmenistan, Iraq and the UAE last year.

Jahankhah went on to say that 274,000 tons of products worth $351 million were imported last year. Imports decreased by 23 percent in terms of weight and 5 percent in terms of value, compared to the preceding year.

Jahankhah said that the main products imported last year were cotton, rice, raw silk and beans.

"These products were imported from Turkey, the UAE, Russia and Uzbekistan," he said.

The customs inspector noted that the foreign trade balance of provincial customs last year was $1.9 billion, when comparing import and export figures.

Iran's Razavi Khorasan Province has 5 customs and 2 border markets on the border with Afghanistan and Turkmenistan.
