BAKU, Azerbaijan, March 18. Iran's total export of chicken eggs amounted to 135,000 tons worth $170 million during the current Iranian year (from March 21, 2023 through March 19, 2024), the Executive Director of Iran's Poultry Union, Mohammad Moradi, said, Trend reports.
According to Moradi, Iran mainly exports eggs to Bahrain, the UAE, Kuwait, Qatar, Iraq, Afghanistan, Turkmenistan, and Pakistan.
He continued by saying that just three years prior, Iran exported a mere 20,000 tons of chicken eggs.
The official mentioned that Iran is currently attempting to export chicken eggs to Russia.
Moreover, Moradi noted that this year, Iran produced 1.33 million tons of chicken eggs, and the production increased by 100,000 tons compared to the previous year.
"Iran's chicken egg production is expected to increase to 1.4 million tons and exports to 160,000 tons next year (from March 20, 2024 through March 20, 2025)," he explained.
To note, Iran is the ninth-largest producer of chicken eggs in the world, with the province of East Azerbaijan producing 10 percent of all chicken eggs produced in Iran.
Additionally, the per capita annual egg consumption in Iran is 14.5 kilograms.
