A military parade dedicated to the week "Sacred Defense" began in the major cities of Iran.

The military parade, with the participation of the Head of the General Staff of Armed Forces, General Firuzabadi, Commander in Chief of the National Army, General Ataollah Salehi and Head of Sepah Guards Mohammad Ali Jafari, will demonstrate modern technology of Iran's National Army, Iranian Ilna news agency reported.

Each year, the date of Iraq's attack on Iran is marked as "Sacred Defense" week in this country. On this occasion, military parades are held in Tehran and other cities, demonstrating military equipment.

Iran-Iraq war began on Sept. 22, 1980 after Iraq's attack on the Iranian province of Khuzestan. The war ended on Aug. 20, 1988 with signing the act of reconciliation, which restored the prewar situation.

Iran's Defense Ministry said on Monday that the parade this year will demonstrate military planes, military helicopters, missiles Earth-Earth, Air-Earth, Water-Earth, and will test new military equipment. According to the organizer of the military parade, General Zabihullaha Namur, in addition to the demonstration of missiles Shahab-1, Shahab-2, Shahab-3 and Sijil, the parade will for the first time demonstrate missile defense system.

Making a speech at the military parade in Tehran, Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad said that "Iran can protect itself from an attack by any country."
"Iran will cut off hand of any country that dares to attack on it," said Ahmadinejad.
