BAKU, Azerbaijan, November 28. Iran treats its nuclear program as a profitable business, Iranian analyst Farshid Bagherian told Trend.
“Based on this, the nuclear program is taking the first steps towards the production of agriculture, electricity, radioactive substances and other substances. Of course, great work should be done in this direction,” he noted.
As the Iranian state has always declared, there is no place for nuclear weapons in its nuclear doctrine. Statements by some countries about Iran's intention to acquire nuclear weapons do not reflect the truth, Bagherian added.
The analyst pointed out that Iran intends to become one of the main countries in the world that enriches uranium at various levels and produces related products as part of its long-term goal in the nuclear field.
Speaking about the IAEA, the analyst said that the agency keeps Iran under constant monitoring. He said that since accepting the NPT convention, Iran has performed all its activities in the correct form.
"However, the IAEA has issued inconsistent reports on Iran in some cases. These reports have been biased in some cases," he said.
Iran has been cooperating with the IAEA, however the cooperation hasn't always been smooth. Recently, on November 20, spokesman for the Iranian Ministry of Foreign Affairs Nasser Kanaani said that Iran does not consider the International Atomic Energy Agency's information about Iran's enriched uranium stockpile that appeared in the media, to be constructive. In particular, Iran has criticized the IAEA) for 'leaking information' about its 60 percent enriched uranium stockpile, as Kanaani said.
Iran has repeatedly stressed the nuclear program is not just about making an atomic bomb. Iran is also developing its nuclear program and nuclear technology in various fields.
Meanwhile, Vice President of Iran and Chief of the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran (AEOI) Mohammad Eslami said on September 6 that the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran has planned many programs within the 20-year strategic document. These programs include the construction of power plants, irradiation, production of radioisotopes, etc.
He said at the time that Iran intends to produce safer agricultural products, using irradiation. On average, 130 million tons of agricultural products are cultivated in the country annually. About 30 percent of the agricultural production becomes waste. Waste in this amount (about 40 million tons) reduces the income of economic activity in the field of agriculture.
Last Iranian year (March 21, 2022 through March 20, 2023), necessary steps were taken within the framework of the 20-year strategic document by the Iranian government. Iran states that it intends to benefit from all peaceful fields of the nuclear industry, including energy, medicine, pharmaceuticals, agriculture, and innovation.
